Basic Interpretation
When this card shows up, healing is what is called for. It can indicate that some activity one is participating in is helping this healing process along, or if it’s in the recent past, the healing is complete, and it’s time to move on. It is important to note we are not talking about medical advice provided by a physician. Rather it is healing from a psychic or spiritual perspective. There may be physical problems this card addresses, but one must always respect and listen to the advice of qualified physicians, first and foremost, if there is a physical medical problem. The card may be calling our attention to symptoms that are not being paid attention to and if that is the case, it is always a good idea to be checked out by a doctor. Remember, we sometimes use physical problems as excuses to keep us from healing deep psychological issues. Equally true is that if we fail to deal with emotional or mental issues, the problems may manifest as physical issues. This is known as psychosomatic manifestation. A psychosomatic symptom is not a made-up or imaginary problem, but an indication of a real problem that has been ignored. It’s as if our bodies are saying, If I can’t get your attention any other way, I will try this physical symptom. To consider what might be indicated by a physical symptom, I highly recommend the handbook by Louise Hay called, Heal Your Body[D1] .[1] Sometimes individuals do make-up or imagine physical issues that are not substantial.
One of the attributes of this card is the call to end a conflict. What is needed is compassion and/or mercy: compassion towards others and mercy for ourselves. What is needed is the opening of one’s mind to all the symptoms without judgment. Only through honest acceptance of the roots of the conflict, does it become possible for it to be resolved.
How to Read This Card Reversed
